Sneddon & Sneddon Harp and Flute

Music Instruction

In addition to a busy career as a performing professional, Margaret Sanzo Sneddon is on the faculty of Mozartina Conservatory in Tarrytown, NY. She is fond of saying that she has had students of all ages "from seven to seventy". Margaret studied for many years with Ruth Negri Armato of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and was trained in the Grandjany or "French" method.

She is qualified to give instruction on both folk or Celtic harp and on pedal harp and can give guidance on the Salzedo method. She tailors her instruction to the individual student, working with their strengths and gently addressing areas needing special attention. She makes a point of working on ensemble playing and helping students overcome performance anxiety.

In the past, Margaret founded and directed the "Hudson Harp Consort", an ensemble of harps of all sizes ranging from a 21 string lap harp to a 48 string concert grand.

The Hudson Harp Consort

Now, at long last, the Hudson Harp Consort is starting up again. Starting in January, Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory in Tarrytown New York will be offering a harp ensemble class for Celtic and pedal harp students. All ages and skill levels are welcome. We will work on ensemble and performance techniques and develop a repertoire to be  presented in a recital at the end of the semester. We will focus on learning new music, sight-reading, playing together, overcoming performance anxiety, and having fun! The class will meet at the school on the third Wednesday of every month. Participation will be included in the tuition of  private students at the Conservatory. Tuition for non-students will be $210.00 for the semester. Margaret is also a certified therapeutic practitioner through the Music for Healing and Transition Program and currently works in this capacity at Phelps Hospice where there is an innovative program of complementary care.
